Your outlook can age you - or not!

I recently turned 30, yet I still forget how old I am when people ask.

For some reason, I have been stuck on 27 for the past couple years. I really believe I am 27. I feel 27 - it's so bizarre! After I spill my age, everyone always says the same thing anyway: "You look 24." The LCBO folks always look from my drivers license to me, then back to my license and say I must have good genes. I look even younger without make-up. I'm not trying to look younger. That's just the way it is!

I agree that genetics are partly why I look so young, but I like to think my lifestyle contributes to it as well. I eat healthy, don't smoke and never do drugs, and only drink moderately. Plus, I also go to the gym 3+ times a week, don't wear layers of make-up and smile - a LOT.

I firmly believe outlook can actually change how you look. In my opinion, the majority of depressed and negative people look like crap - dark circles under their eyes, greyish hue of skin. Blech. (If you needed yet another reason to be positive, there it is!). Obviously, people who are depressed turn to substances to feel better (drugs, junk food), which in the end, make you look and feel even worse. Once you hit that spiral I imagine it's hard to get out. In effect, proving how important outlook and good self-esteem is.

There is a reason why it has been scientifically proven that smiling actually makes you feel better.

:)

Drinking this wine while writing this post. The 2009 is spectacular!

I'm not a wine buff, but I know what I like. I thoroughly enjoy the spicy wines of South America - I could honestly live the rest of my life only drinking these reds and be spectacularly happy.

So many other things keep me happy. My friends and my work, discovering new tunes and rediscovering old ones, pushing extra 10 pounds of weight at the gym, delicious wine, how my kitty headbutts me in the mornings... You know, simple things.

Lately though, there's been one gentleman who had been such a pleasant surprise. I met him on Toronto Island a couple weeks ago and we've regularly kept in touch. He is youthful, sparks intelligent conversation, has an adorable silly side and is shy, but open minded.

I have nothing bad to say about him. Though, us girls ALWAYS have a 'But...' when it comes to guys. So his is this:

He is 15 years older than me.

Other than that, he is perfect. He is gorgeous and he treats me like gold. So does this 'But...' matter? I'm a fool if I let it bother me any further. It's so hard to find that chemistry, let alone with someone who actually captures all of my attention. I'm truly relishing in this!

Frank.

This album is definitely my favourite from Amy Winehouse, though perhaps I am biased.

Frank. He's an awesome guy. :)

Rose Coloured Glasses

Or Heart Shaped ones...

I found this album while Unpacking last night and had it on eleven. That's the fun part about unpacking - you rediscover things!

Hangin' w/ the Net Tech

I moved recently (June 1st!) and FINALLY got my Internet installed last night, just at the tail end of dinner. Perfect timing!

A 6'5" dude ducked into my cluttered apartment. We found the jack and he got to work. (After he helped me move a heaping bookcase to get to it!)

Now, I'm a chatty Cathy. Always have been. I like to hear people's stories. So I asked him how he was, how he must meet loads of people, and joked that it was ok if he used Rogers at home (he was a Bell tech.)

He was getting a lot of phone calls. So I joked about his popularity while restacking my book shelf. He said they were friends from Jamaica, "No one works down there. They don't realize I can't talk to them when I'm on the job." So we chat about Jamaica. He said he was heading there on Friday and was pretty pumped. I offer him a beer. He accepts. Then I bring up Sister Nancy.

I've mentioned her before. She's a Dancehall DJ from the '80s who hailed from Kingston, Jamaica, except I discovered her while in Costa Rica. But Rupert swore he never heard of her. I was pretty sure he was yankin' my chain. And I told him that! Then I started talking all island-like. I don't know why I do that. I do the same around British people - start up with the English accent (which sounds more like Irish, usually.)

So, to test the Internet, we listen to some Sister Nancy on You Tube. Then he asked about my tattoos since I was wearing shorts (I have big wings and stars and comets on both calves in all hues of blue) and then we started on Santeria and VooDoo that is rampant in Central America. He even told me about some exorcisms he was witness too.

All in all, the best Internet Install experience I ever had.
