Holy Poop

It's almost the end of the month and I have about two weeks of Songs of the Day to post. Clearly, I'm a bizzy sweet thang and have no time to update this on a daily basis. Apologies, my lovelies.

I've been busy working, gymning (yes, that's a verb), dating, socializing, and packing.

So here are my selections for tunes from May 16 - May 21

May 16 - Blow by Ke$ha

I actually can't stand Ke$ha, but after listening to this song and watchign the video on repeat at my brother's place, I can't help but listen to this on repeat at work to keep me away while budgeting.

Plus, any video Vanderbeek mysteriously grows hair back for, is worth watching.

May 17 - Larry Tee's Supermodel Inc.

Fabulously gay DJ and Mix Master Larry Tee is buddies with Ru Paul - and has been since the 80's.  There's actually a hilarious video out there of the two of them in the 90s critiquing their 80s outfits. Its' almost painful to watch because their hair was just such a mess. Ah... the 90s...

May 18 - What You Waiting For? by Gwen Stefani

Alright Harajuki gals, extend those legs and stick out your pelvises! lol. Seriously, it's some crazy power stance that Gwen has mastered. Or maybe it's simply a result of the towering shoes...

May 19 - Tom Petty's Free Fallin'

A favourite for long car rides and impromptu sing-alongs with friends.

May 20 - Peaches' Mommy Complex

This song is very sexy, but the video isn't. It's a confusing a pathetic attempt at... something. Clearly the peachy Canadian had an incredibly low budget.

May 21 - Mountain Top by Bedouin Soundclash

I have a soft spot for these guys and for Michael Maxxis, who directed the video. Michael is a buddy to loads of Canadian musicians, including Billy Talent and Jay Sparrow.

Mad tunage updates

Counting backwards from May 15th, here are my tune picks for each day.

On Sunday, May 15th, Jack Johnson was following me around. He was on in the shops. He was on in the restaurants. He was on the radio. Something about Sundays. :) I still haven't seen him live yet, so I must make a point this summer!

May 14th was Everlong by the Foo Fighters. My buddy Nathan Whitney of Aberdeen posted the video on his Facebook page as his Happy Song and I stole his selection. Something about old school Foo Fighters.

I think I posted this video before about Dave Grohl and his addiction to coffee. It's too funny not to post again! My buddy Donny sent this my way a logn time ago. Like grohl, he is fellow drummer and coffee fan. It's a cult, I tell ya.

Friday the 13th was Deep Sleep by Toronto Indie band, Automatic Toys.

First time I saw these guys was at Sound Academy in March. I was interviewing The Junction for Unchartedsounds.com when Automatic Toys were doing their soundchecks. They were pretty sexy sounding, even in the raw checks. So when I saw them live, I was pumped. The lead guy has capturing stage presence.

May 12th was anything Aberdeen. I hung out with the guys at Gibson's Lounge when they organized their own Showcase. Organizing a showcase is a huge deal and is a lot of effort. The guys hit the stage at 8:45pm, but were setting up gear an dmerch from 2pm onward. Super decidated guys. And super talented too!

When I met Dave Gahan...

Song of the Day is I Need You by Dave Gahan

I met Davey when he was in Toronto with Depeche Mode touring the Exciter Album. One of my fave tracks from that album is Freelove. But today's tune sings out to me, specifically this line: "You'll always need me much more than I'll need you." Martin was super quiet. Adam was the chit chatter

Yep. You fellas always need me more. Been contacted by a string of old romps from last Fall. It's odd that they try to maintain contact 6 to 9 months after I told them never to bother me again. Still, it's up to me to remain in contact; to firm the connection they're trying to start again. Having control over a situation is empowering.

Still, I'm holding out for a real man. Like the handsome gentleman I saw in the elevator this morning... ;)

Super mad delay in my video postings

Whoops, I've been so busy living my life, that I haven't been posting my Song of the Day videos. How selfish of me!

I had a Brock University party at the Labatt HQ on Queen's Quay, which lead to an awesome night of partying at the Biermarkt and Velvet Underground. Random, yes, but that's why it was so kickass.

Had a loverly dinner party with new gal pals.

Celebrated a bud's birthday's. Celebrated another bud's birthday! So much shopping for them, and me! Bought myself a Pandora bracelet to commemorate my promotion at work. Wee! And I'd been hitting the gym in between, pushing 200lbs on Leg Press. YES!

This Thursday I'm hitting up a wee gig at Bistro 243 and then off to a Gibson party. Awesomeness. Looking forward to wearing my bright yellow dress and new pink/yellow/blue chandelier earrings I got on sale. (I LOVE sales!) On Saturday I'm meeting up with a cutie I met at the Labatt Party. Good times!

Weee! So here is the list of SofD's I've missed since April 27:

April 29 - The Clash, 'London Calling'
April 30 - Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks
April 31 - Liam Lynch, 'Still Wasted'
May 1 - Metallica - Until It Sleeps
May 2 - Adele - Rolling In The Deep
May 3 - The Strokes - You Only Live Once
May 4 - David Bowie - Rebel Rebel
May 5 - The Prodigy, 'The Way It Is'
May 6 - VNV Nation, 'Structure'
May 7 - Jay Sparrow, 'Lay Yr Mountain Down'
May 8 - Lonely Island, 'Jack Sparrow (ft. Michael Bolton)
May 9 - Massive Attack, 'What Your Soul Sings'
May 10 - Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce, 'Telephone'

Rawk on, my lovelies.

Glee finally got me

Ok, so I boycotted Glee for a while because that whiney Kurt kid drove me nuts. I know you kids like him, but I can't stand someone who is so whiney. When he was threatened to die by asexually confused jock, poor Kurt was banished to an amazing private school full of gorgeous gay men. And the kid still whined. Jesus.

Unfortunately, Kurt is back at his troubled public school. The only thing that saved the episode for me was the final trance/dance number. It was this tube by Duck Sauce.

Fuck, I love this song.

Went to the gym again tonight and the orgasm bicep-curl gal was nowhere in sight.
My trainer said I should never ever eat cereal. That even the whole grain kind is bad.
He also said milk is full of sugar and is pointless to have.
Wtf am I supposed to eat? Cardboard?

Only Girl In The World

Song of the Day is Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World)

I have to admit, I'm nto a fan of Rihanna as a person. I don't particularly think she has a lot to offer, or that she wants to be known for something other than a pop singer. Which is fine. I guess I always feel compelled peopel shoudl give as much as they can and she has huge potential.

I love this video though. I dig Rihanna's style.
