Sleeping Beauty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JypUL_lj1h0

This video is weird, but minimize the screen and listen to the song - it's amazing.

For some reason this track fuels my souls desire for completion - of projects, of thoughts, of anything I could be working on completing. It's on repeat while I bang out my wee novella.

I'm still tyring to figure out the format... If I should devote a chapter to each guy who has left some sort of impression on me? Or should I write it autobiographically? Maybe I should Tarantino it? I love how Tarantinoing is a verb. Like Google, I want to be a verb one day!

It's so warm in my condo. I have four radiators with only two on. Still, I'm in a tank top and shorts. Cooper is sitting on the floor licking his bum. I chucked my sock at him, but he only stopped for a sec to look at the balled up sock, then up at me and continued to lick himself.

Sometimes I wish I could amuse myself so easily - but then I remember all my escapades ... Right, back to the writings...

Won't mom and dad be proud of their daughter? I was thinking of putting a parental guidance warning on the hard cover when it gets published (okay.. IF it gets picked up by publishers.) The book is gonna be chock full of sexy rants and recounts of naughty events, plus my politically incorrect opinions... I've already started to write my obituary in case.

Yay Christina is here from Calgary!

Last I saw Christina was in August before she moved to Calgary. So it was so amazing to see my girl after four months of phone calls, texts and facebook notes. It was as tho she never left.

We found a lovely little patisserie - I love how this girl thinks. She suggested we order three desserts and enjoy them all while sipping fancy hot drinks. How can a gal say no to that? Sure - I gained an inch around my waist over the holidays, but that's what constant eating and drinking for two weeks will do! My mum's an amazing cooker upper.

I don't get to see my girl often enough and Christina's' ideas are too smashing to pass up, so I forgot about my weight woe's and dug in. Man... there's this amazing treat called the Polar Bear... the BEST. It was so nice to lounge in big soft chairs and rant and ramble and laugh. I have made a point to visit her in the New Year... probably close to the beginning of March. There's talk of Vegas. That would be so awesome!

Tarot cards keep amazing me

I've started to read them in batches of 10. Essentially there are three messages in each reading (three groups of 3 cards) and the one final card (the 10th) reflects the overall energy or direction of the message.

I'm amazed by how accurate the reading is for myself and close friends - one friend in particular. I've never had a readin gabout her, but it was so obvious this time. From what I understand, every card reader had a different method in order to read the cards, or to tame their gut so they don't take the message the wrong way or in a completely different direction than it's meant to be taken.

I leave my cards on my altar, on a beautiful rainbow colouredsilk scarf a colleague brought for me back from the Dominican. The cards are positioned by the window sill where Cooper naps in the sun. He will often sits on the cards or stand over them, sniffing away. He provides a lot to my readings and how the cards fall...

I'm excited how the cards will fall over the coming year :)

I Know, I Know...

After I swear off net dating I try a new site called Smartdate.com. All the guys who find me attractive tend to be from Quebec, London or Texas. Stupid online dating.

I found Dan's blog on Purerave.com

The fact he is on purerave.com should be a major warning. But let's hope he doesn't find my ashleymadison.com or fetlife.com website... that would likely be a major warning for him! (Seriously, I deleted those accounts MONTHS ago.)

Right now, just chillin' to some Arcade Fire, chatting with my girl Anne, talkin' dildos with my bud Derek and debating on writing more of my novel. I promised myself I wouldn't write it all Hemmingway-like (drunk). We'll see what happens!

Donny

So Donny was a bit bothered how I didn't mention him in my blog posts. Donny, baby, this one's for you!!

So I met Donny on pof... probably about two years ago now? Last I saw him was... August? No.. that can't be right... Maybe September... No wait it was November 1st! He moved into his new pad and I gave him some rawkin cookware.

Wow. Clearly, I'm still drunk.

<3 ya Donny!

Mad Hiccups

So I'm kinda drunky. Had four glasses of wine, a mug of coffee with three shots of Bailey's and it's only suiting to be listening to Amy Winehouse, don't you think?

All I can think of is Ack, Dale, my Boxing Day Steals, the hilarious game of charades after dinner with the fam and my snuggly buddy Cooper.

I'm also kinda wondering how Dan's friend Bill planned to make me scream. (Bill told me he wanted to make me scream the first time I methim about a week ago - completely innapropriate, but still appealing for a flirty French girl like moi whose {supposed} man wasn't doing a thing to keep her intrigued.)

I am full of home made sugar tarts and home made chocolates. I am still kinda drunky and evaluating New Years Eve plans. To be perfectly honest, I'd be content spending the day at home on my own, which is what I may end up doing... I don't know why NYE is such a big deal ... Perhaps I'll understand what it's like when I hav ea man who is able to take me out to dinner.

My 'boyfriend' never took me out to dinner the whole time we were dating... kinda pathetic. I mean, a man is supposed to do all he can to woo a gal, isn't he? I guess it's old fashioned of me to think so... but hey, if a guy expects some sugar, especially some from me, he better pull out all the stops, damn it.

Merry New Year!

Indeed it will be a merry one. Why? Coz I won't be starting it on the wrong foot - and by that I mean my relationship (whatever kind it was) with Dan is kaput.

I couldn't stand it - I wasn't happy with our ... arrangement. Unfortunately the day I chose to tell him about my unhappiness was on December 25th - which holds significance of faith for most - but I'm Pagan and he's agnostic, so I didn't think it'd make a difference to him.

Apparently it did - and he wasn't impressed (like I care!). Though my intention was never to impress him - obviously. Rather, it was to unimpress him and push him away. Far, far away. And I got what I wanted without a crazy rant... so far. We'll see what happens in the coming days. I have a feeling I haven't seen the last of him yet...

Celebrating the Winter Solstice :)

One of the directors at work asked me what I'm doing tonight to celebrate the Solstice. He remembered that as a Pagan, it is a very special day for me!

Back in October he asked if I was a witch after I told him that I was going to Salem for Samhain. Instead of saying that I was a Pagan, but not a witch (I don't cast spells) - I agreed that he was right. Some might disagree with my agreeable approach, but I didn't feel comfortable explaining my Spirituality in great detail at the office.

Still, I found it quite touching that, months later, he remembered and offered well wishes. I was caught off guard and felt so warm and fuzzy. However, I am disappointed that my boyfriend didn't remember.

We are still *new* and haven't yet hit the one month mark, still - isn't this the time when a man is supposed to go out on a limb to impress his lady? It's something simple... you may find it petty, but little things mean a lot to me.

Met up with Jenn for a coffee. Too many inside jokes and an hour later, I'm back at the office

One lady brought a home made red velvet cake to work. Another one brought cookies and a guy brought in a few loaves he made with his wife (how sweet!) I easily ate about a dozen sugar cookies. And there was home made peanut brittle. I never in my life had peanut brittle. I'm ADDICTED!! Nom nom nom...

I was mowing down another cookie when a service provider dropped by to visit my boss. Is it weird that he asked me to go have a drink with him?

Made it home in record time and got a good workout in. Ahh... I'm feelin' good. :)

8:35pm
He remembered! Dan just called and wished me a Happy Solstice. My faith in men is restored!!

New workout regimen!

Last weekend I had asked mon Daniel to show me some new moves that could improve my workouts and help boost my toning - I had hit my plateau last month. Dan came over Tuesday and did a wrkout with me at home to show me proper stance and positioning. Plus he drew out two other workouts for me to try so that I can alternate my sessions so as not to get bored.

Tuesday, I did Push (essentially pushing weights around, working the core and arms).
Thursday, I did Pull (pulling weights, working glutes and core).
Friday, I did cardio before going out to a party. Timing was tight, but glad to have gotten it in!
Today I did Legs (Lunges, squats and leg curls - am I ever wobbly now!)

I round out each session with 5-10 minutes of intense yoga poses to increase cardio (Warrior, Lightening Bolt and Crow).

It's only been a week - and I'm getting impatient to see results, but Dan is definitely keeping me grounded and is so supportive of my personal goals. Lisa also told me not to get impatient and that it takes about 4 weeks to see results from a new routine. And considering it's Christmas and there's loads of goodies circulating, I will likely not see results until mid-January. But hopefully, I'll accomplish my goal by the end of February - to fit into my size 28 jeans. Right now I fit into my 29's, but they're a bit snug.

Daniel is very sweet because he told me that he likes me as I am, which is what I was hoping to hear! Still, it's awesome to have that support for new goals too. I imagine some gals might get offended by having their boyfriend give them tips on how to be healthier and more trim, but this is what I want, so I'm embracing his advice with open arms. Though I did make it clear to Daniel to not be too preachy to me - that this is ultimately my goal and not his to work on.

*sigh*

One Smitten Kitten

When I first saw him he was leaning akwardly against the glass Shoppers Drugmart wall by the Yonge/Bloor station. He was fiddling with a Metro paper, trying to appear to read it casually, but I could tell he was nervous - I felt relieved I wasn't the only one.

Then he looked at me with those big brown eyes and grinned big - my heart melted.

Son nom est Daniel. Oui, he's a Frenchie. Which is funny coz my bro's boyfriend's has the same name and is also Francais!

My new beau is an absolute softie, but he's also a ravenous hunk of a man. How I enjoy the two sides of him! On our first date, he was chittering away nervously on the way to the restaurant (which thankfully prevented me from yammering away, nervously).

He found me online (POF... I know, I know...) and we met the next night. We even hung out the day after... and the day after that. And saw him last night. We went to a friend's wee rock show at the Rancho and my gal pal flat out said Dan was sexy as hell. Always nice to have a gal pal's approval ;)

Dan and I also made plans for Friday... And he invited me to two Christmas parties next weekend. We can't seem to get enough of each other. The best part is he knows I'm strange and likes that about me. I have no idea where this is going to go...but that's part of riding it out, isn't it? ;)

Random thoughts at 10am on a Monday...

I really should invest in getting a proper manicure.

I never splurge on dolling myself up. I only get a hair-cut once a year and I only get a pedicure or manicure once a year. I'm really not a fan of consistantly worrying about maintenance, which is why I never get highlights. If I do invest in hair, it's only been the $$$$ wave length extensions since they last 6-8 months on me.

I've recently paid off a relatively large loan, so I am happy to say I have extra cash available for potential maintenance. I have therefore decided to go to House of Lords this Wednesday to get a snazzy new doo. (When I use the word 'Therefore' it solidifies my decision further for some reason, lol.)

I have no idea what hairstyle I will walk out of there with, but I am planning on dishing the dough to get foils. With foils, the dye won't touch my scalp, so I won't get an allergic reaction. (My breathing tube snaps shut. Nice, eh?).

Thursday is the corporate lunch party. In two weeks it's the corporate lunch din din. Gotta look snazz-a-mtazzz ;)

Not Impressed with Tattoo Rock Parlour

Last week on Wednesday I went to  Tattoo Rock Parlour to interview These Kids Wear Crowns. I wasn't carrying my ID with me, I'm 28, why should I have to carry my ID around?

Apparently it was all ages night. I forgot that These Kids Wear Crowns cater to an extremely young crowd of 8 year olds. So I was allowed in, but wasn't granted a drinking band. Thankfully I thought ahead and had made a khalua coffee for the TTC ride down, so I wasn't in dire need of a drinky.

But once I got in there, I couldn't find the band and they weren't responding to texts or calls. I wandered around and found their hang out by the bathrooms. At the curtain was a relatively short and stocky goomba who denied my entry. He refused to go tell the band I was there and ignored my questions. So I yelled beyond the curtain to the band.

The bouncer pulled the curtain closed and pressed his chest up against my shoulder. 'Why are you being so obnoxious?" He said. I pulled the curtain open and yelled to the band again. One guy came up to me this time and finally recognised me.

Apparently they forgot about the interview. I was not impressed.

Thankfully I had made alternate plans earlier that week to meet up with Steve, who I hadn't seen in 7 years. He found my online dating profile and suggested we meet up.

Is it weird that 7 years later a person can look exactly the same?

He said I looked the same - in a good way! And I found it quite flattering. We went across the street to La Palette and shared some bubbly. A bust of an evening turned out to be one of the most special.

Amazing - Second reading almost exactly like the first

Tonight's Tarot reading was eerily similar to that of Sunday's.

Five cards of the six were present in my first reading five days ago, excpt they were moved around a bit.

Instead of the first card being the Ace of Staves, I picked the Queen of Staves (Warmth and kindness; Creation with hands, mind and soul; Births happiness around her in others.)

The second card remained the Knight of Swords (Bravery and wisdom; Valiance.)

Third pulled was the Six of Staves (Great victory; Glorious Achievement) which was the fourth in my last reading.

Fourth card was Nine of Staves (Hidden dangers; Deception of friends) which was the fifth card in my last reading.

Fifth card was Cancer which was the sixth card in my last reading (weird pattern, ain't it?)

Sixth card was Leo (masculinity, pride, success and power)

In my opinion it's confusing to have the Knight of Swords and the Leo card in the same reading because they are so similar. The knight must represent the valiance in myself and the Leo must represent an influencial male figure in my life. I quite put my finger on who yet... They don't ecessarily have to be a Leo, but they will hold Leo-esque characteristics.

The absense of the Ace of Staves and the continued presence of the other card strongly signifies that something amazingly good had begun. I'm going to maintain it as my freelance work. Secondary thoughts lead to the interpretation of my spiritual self-discovery.

I am amazed 5 of the 6 cards reappeared - and with 4 in the same order! I shuffled the deck for several minutes while externalizing thoughts... amazing.

Always ditch a guy when...

He asks you to spot him cash when the cheque comes... and HE is the one who said he'd take you out for dinner.

But if you're a bit of a softie like I am and cut a guy a break for effin' up once, don't give him a break for effin' up twice on the same date.

He was texting all through dinner (annoying!) I checked his phone when he went to the bathroom (which he left on the table) and apparently he was busy making a date for tomorrow while he was having dinner with me.

Nice.

Block. Delete.

It's at times like these when I miss my Android phone. I LOVE how you can program a contact's calls to go directly to voicemail.

Tarot reading tonight = Great things are coming

Just when I thought life was awesome already - seems I'll have to prepare for even more awesomeness. I can't wrap my head around it... Is it even possible?

I use the Michiate Tarot deck. I place the cards differently with each reading, depending on my mood. Here's what I pulled tonight:

Not sure why I pulled so many Staves.  Here are the cards in the order I pulled them, and the meaning for each:

1. Ace of Staves =  A great beginning, rebirth or renewal; Power and joy.
2. Knight of Swords = Bravery and wisdom; Valiance.
3. Queen of Staves = Warmth and kindness; Creation with hands, mind and soul; Births happiness around her in others.
4. Six of Staves = Great victory; Glorious Achievement
5. Nine of Staves = Hidden dangers; Deception of friends
6. Cancer = Intuitiveness, Creativity and Complication. Me. (I'm a Cancer!)

It is possible for cards to be read differently, but in situations like this, when all the cards point to such similar threads, it's nearly impossible to miss the message. Typically the above can essentially be read for love because of the King and the Cancer cards. Or perhaps Spiritual growth because of the 6 and 9 of staves (as numbers divisible by 3 are spiritual in nature). But I prefer to take this in the work realm as it makes the most sense to me. :) The Ace of Staves is tranferrable for all meanings though. I guess we'll just have to see what great thing is going to happen :)

Interview Jay Sparrow was so much more ...

... than just an interview. It was an eye-opening conversation with a super cool and down to Earth guy.

I try my hardest to ask questions no one else has asked. So I was very proud when Jay admitted that some of my Q's were the first of their kind. He gave off an amazing energy - positivity and a vast drive to accomplish all in his heart. It's hard for anyone not to be enamoured by Jay - everyone around him was - even the Gibson dog! It was a successful interview and I am really looking forward to writing this out. You'll have to wait for the December issue of http://www.unchartedsounds.com/ to read it. :)

Kalen smiled broadly when I spoke of the interview on our first date Friday. I feel a little self-indulgent when I speak of my successes to people I'm getting to know. For some reason, he made me feel ok about it, though. He stepped away for a minute to grab more beers when I spotted a trio of moustachioed folks laughing in the corner of Sweaty Betty's.

MOVEMBER!

Yes, they were celebrating Movember and I was so happy! They even had a few spares, so I had it on when Kalen returned. He also partook in the moustache fun and hurried off to get the five of us shots of Jager. Awesome. After failing to take the shot without my moustache falling off, Kalen caved to our requests - he straightened his and balanced one of the bar chairs on his chin.

After much applause, we slipped out of the place and hit up The Social for a rap party of his and ran into Noah Wiley. I didn't talk to him, coz I don't really know much about him... He was very friendly with everyone though, which is always nice to see. :)

The funniest thing had to be when Kalen said his lips were so chapped from all the fire eating. He is a professional fire eater, but it's just so uncanny to hear - I couldn't stop laughing!

By the way, Jay's show on Thursday night at the Dakota Tavern was totally awesome. He did an AWESOME cover of The Band's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. If you're into folk, blues, or country tunes, definitely check him out the next time he's in town!

Joking around at Tim's

Lisa and I hopped into Tim Horton's to chat about the plans around my Jay Sparrow interview at Gibson tomorrow.. When a man in his mid-50s elbowed me while trying to take his wallet out of his coat pocket.

He mumbled a quick apology.

Hmm...

I jabbed my elbow playfully into him a couple times and giggled. he smiled big and said, "It's not every day a pretty girl wants to get so close to me. I'm married with three boys!" Then he and Lisa started talking about kids and stuff and I just stood their smiling in the line. I like funny little convos like that. :)
Some ladies at work said I looked really pretty and said they liked an outfit I was wearing a little while ago...I can't believe they remembered... I'm just starting to realize that I leave an impression on people. I never really paid attention to that.

The other day when I was at Shoppers regenerating the make-up I lost in the purse snatching incident, Leslie, the make-up artist at the counter was amazed at how young I looked with no make-up on. She guessed I was in my early 20s and curled her lip, Elvis style, when I told her I'm 28. (By the way, the cover up I bought, CoverFX, works wonders!).

Anyway, I had told Leslie what happened with the purse and she was shocked at how positive my aura was. I was surprised she even said that, a lot of people don't speak openly about their spiritual beliefs. Is it weird that I'm proud about how people are able to open up to me? I just really appreciate their willingness to confide in me. Anyway, Leslie loaded me up with make-up samples. I won't have to buy primer for two years, lol.

Life is good.

Salem... Still has an impression on me.

I didn't get into too much of the details of Salem... And I'd rather not get into exactly what happened, but what happened in Salem really impacted my outlook on life; it made me realize how I hold my heart in this giant cage under lock and key; how I need to embrace feelings and the hurt that can come with it.

When I returned to Toronto, I came back a different person; a more positive person; a person whose goal was to take out the trash and ditch those goombas while making an effort to try to live an enlightened life.
***

I have a feeling he saw me before I saw him. And when I saw him... I just couldn't stop smiling. Reconnecting with the past is not always good, but with Dino, it was different. We essentially grew up together without really knowing each other and were always in each other's backgrounds in Elementary and High School.

Recently, we reconnected on Facebook and Dino radiated good vibes. I wanted to get to know him despite the barriers. He's in Montreal and I'm in Toronto... Perhaps a lame excuse, but one nonetheless. Still, when he said he was coming to Toronto, I was really looking forward to seeing him and had absolutely no idea what to expect.

It was... amazing. He made me smile all night... and all morning. So sexy, so delicious, so open, and honest, he drives right into the thick of things (respectfully of course). I'll never forget our first kiss. Or our last one. I keep playing them in my head... I still get butterflies every time..

So the Spirit of Salem is still in me. Despite having lost my purse two nights ago, my phone, cards, cash, keys and my favourite Chanel lipstick... I am elated. Some of th egood vibes are from Dino - some of the vibes are from my good friends who take care of me... Everyone's been telling me how awesome I look (even the cosmetic girls at Shoppers!), how I'm glowing, how they're surprised I'm so happy despite having been put in such an inconvenient situation ... I'm happy because I'm finally embracing my true self. :)

And I'm happy to finally miss someone.

My boss digs Iron Maiden

He is officially the coolest boss ever.

He also digs my VJing for UnchartedSounds.com and says I should put a portfolio together... I guess I should. :)

Rawkin' to some Daft Punk while I do the dishes and tackle laundry.

Being Called Beautiful Is Amazing

This morning I arrived at work and sat at my desk. Put on some lipstick and started clacking away at my computer keys.

One of the consultant's came in, said good morning and gave me a big smile. So of coruse I smile back. he's an adorable older Asian man. He's always smiling, but rarely speaks. Perhaps that's what makes him so darn adorable.

Except today, he actually said something to me.

"You're so beautiful."

Gosh. Didn't that make me feel fabulous! Like a Goddess :)

Hanging out at Boston's Logan Airport

Apparently I hear it's snowing in Toronto, Oshawa and Newmarket today. Halloween's are always so cold, it totally sucks! But I have to giggle at them all, coz right now it's so nice and warm in Boston. I'm sweating in my hoodie and leather jacket. So right now I'm sitting in the airport with a tank top.

The trip was awesome, I absolutely love Boston. The style is not as obvious as Toronto, which surprosed me, because Boston has way more people, but there were some awesome outfits (and I'm not talking about Halloween costumes!) I am also amazed by their transit system. There are pro's and con's, like any system, but I am amazed by how far out their subway and bus system spreads out, as well as their commuter rail system.

A couple really interesting things...

- Sweet Goth/Witch shops in Salem. A definite must for the goth at heart and those interested in acquiring unique items of the spiritual arts. (I picked up a curious looking necklace that turned out to be a monacle!)
- Food is weird. Their cuisine seems to focus around grease, like most America cities, but they have an interesting seafood component and tend to add cranberries to almost anything.
- Newbury street is a mesh of Yorkville meets Queen West in Toronto. A lot of high end shops, and in between, cheap-o nail salons, consignment shops, pricey jewelry and fast food, something caters to everyone here. There's also a kitchy Fairy shop and high ender destinations like Betsey Johnson and Ted Baker.

And now off I go, in a wee plane home. There was only 13 people on the way in from Boston. The plane was so tiny, it had only one seat, then the aisle, then two seats. Very tight squeeze!!

Lost In The Trees

You gotta love the free iTunes tunage. I downloaded one called Walk Around The Lake by Lost In The Trees. And it was suprisingly good.

I dig how the iTunes folks don't necessary pilfer free tunes of bands which are widely known. Just this week, the free Starbucks tune available is Month Of May by Arcade Fire - by far an underrated tune, not circulating on radio. So kudos to iTunes for having good taste. :)
