Random thoughts at 10am on a Monday...

I really should invest in getting a proper manicure.

I never splurge on dolling myself up. I only get a hair-cut once a year and I only get a pedicure or manicure once a year. I'm really not a fan of consistantly worrying about maintenance, which is why I never get highlights. If I do invest in hair, it's only been the $$$$ wave length extensions since they last 6-8 months on me.

I've recently paid off a relatively large loan, so I am happy to say I have extra cash available for potential maintenance. I have therefore decided to go to House of Lords this Wednesday to get a snazzy new doo. (When I use the word 'Therefore' it solidifies my decision further for some reason, lol.)

I have no idea what hairstyle I will walk out of there with, but I am planning on dishing the dough to get foils. With foils, the dye won't touch my scalp, so I won't get an allergic reaction. (My breathing tube snaps shut. Nice, eh?).

Thursday is the corporate lunch party. In two weeks it's the corporate lunch din din. Gotta look snazz-a-mtazzz ;)

Not Impressed with Tattoo Rock Parlour

Last week on Wednesday I went to  Tattoo Rock Parlour to interview These Kids Wear Crowns. I wasn't carrying my ID with me, I'm 28, why should I have to carry my ID around?

Apparently it was all ages night. I forgot that These Kids Wear Crowns cater to an extremely young crowd of 8 year olds. So I was allowed in, but wasn't granted a drinking band. Thankfully I thought ahead and had made a khalua coffee for the TTC ride down, so I wasn't in dire need of a drinky.

But once I got in there, I couldn't find the band and they weren't responding to texts or calls. I wandered around and found their hang out by the bathrooms. At the curtain was a relatively short and stocky goomba who denied my entry. He refused to go tell the band I was there and ignored my questions. So I yelled beyond the curtain to the band.

The bouncer pulled the curtain closed and pressed his chest up against my shoulder. 'Why are you being so obnoxious?" He said. I pulled the curtain open and yelled to the band again. One guy came up to me this time and finally recognised me.

Apparently they forgot about the interview. I was not impressed.

Thankfully I had made alternate plans earlier that week to meet up with Steve, who I hadn't seen in 7 years. He found my online dating profile and suggested we meet up.

Is it weird that 7 years later a person can look exactly the same?

He said I looked the same - in a good way! And I found it quite flattering. We went across the street to La Palette and shared some bubbly. A bust of an evening turned out to be one of the most special.

Amazing - Second reading almost exactly like the first

Tonight's Tarot reading was eerily similar to that of Sunday's.

Five cards of the six were present in my first reading five days ago, excpt they were moved around a bit.

Instead of the first card being the Ace of Staves, I picked the Queen of Staves (Warmth and kindness; Creation with hands, mind and soul; Births happiness around her in others.)

The second card remained the Knight of Swords (Bravery and wisdom; Valiance.)

Third pulled was the Six of Staves (Great victory; Glorious Achievement) which was the fourth in my last reading.

Fourth card was Nine of Staves (Hidden dangers; Deception of friends) which was the fifth card in my last reading.

Fifth card was Cancer which was the sixth card in my last reading (weird pattern, ain't it?)

Sixth card was Leo (masculinity, pride, success and power)

In my opinion it's confusing to have the Knight of Swords and the Leo card in the same reading because they are so similar. The knight must represent the valiance in myself and the Leo must represent an influencial male figure in my life. I quite put my finger on who yet... They don't ecessarily have to be a Leo, but they will hold Leo-esque characteristics.

The absense of the Ace of Staves and the continued presence of the other card strongly signifies that something amazingly good had begun. I'm going to maintain it as my freelance work. Secondary thoughts lead to the interpretation of my spiritual self-discovery.

I am amazed 5 of the 6 cards reappeared - and with 4 in the same order! I shuffled the deck for several minutes while externalizing thoughts... amazing.

Always ditch a guy when...

He asks you to spot him cash when the cheque comes... and HE is the one who said he'd take you out for dinner.

But if you're a bit of a softie like I am and cut a guy a break for effin' up once, don't give him a break for effin' up twice on the same date.

He was texting all through dinner (annoying!) I checked his phone when he went to the bathroom (which he left on the table) and apparently he was busy making a date for tomorrow while he was having dinner with me.

Nice.

Block. Delete.

It's at times like these when I miss my Android phone. I LOVE how you can program a contact's calls to go directly to voicemail.

Tarot reading tonight = Great things are coming

Just when I thought life was awesome already - seems I'll have to prepare for even more awesomeness. I can't wrap my head around it... Is it even possible?

I use the Michiate Tarot deck. I place the cards differently with each reading, depending on my mood. Here's what I pulled tonight:

Not sure why I pulled so many Staves.  Here are the cards in the order I pulled them, and the meaning for each:

1. Ace of Staves =  A great beginning, rebirth or renewal; Power and joy.
2. Knight of Swords = Bravery and wisdom; Valiance.
3. Queen of Staves = Warmth and kindness; Creation with hands, mind and soul; Births happiness around her in others.
4. Six of Staves = Great victory; Glorious Achievement
5. Nine of Staves = Hidden dangers; Deception of friends
6. Cancer = Intuitiveness, Creativity and Complication. Me. (I'm a Cancer!)

It is possible for cards to be read differently, but in situations like this, when all the cards point to such similar threads, it's nearly impossible to miss the message. Typically the above can essentially be read for love because of the King and the Cancer cards. Or perhaps Spiritual growth because of the 6 and 9 of staves (as numbers divisible by 3 are spiritual in nature). But I prefer to take this in the work realm as it makes the most sense to me. :) The Ace of Staves is tranferrable for all meanings though. I guess we'll just have to see what great thing is going to happen :)

Interview Jay Sparrow was so much more ...

... than just an interview. It was an eye-opening conversation with a super cool and down to Earth guy.

I try my hardest to ask questions no one else has asked. So I was very proud when Jay admitted that some of my Q's were the first of their kind. He gave off an amazing energy - positivity and a vast drive to accomplish all in his heart. It's hard for anyone not to be enamoured by Jay - everyone around him was - even the Gibson dog! It was a successful interview and I am really looking forward to writing this out. You'll have to wait for the December issue of http://www.unchartedsounds.com/ to read it. :)

Kalen smiled broadly when I spoke of the interview on our first date Friday. I feel a little self-indulgent when I speak of my successes to people I'm getting to know. For some reason, he made me feel ok about it, though. He stepped away for a minute to grab more beers when I spotted a trio of moustachioed folks laughing in the corner of Sweaty Betty's.

MOVEMBER!

Yes, they were celebrating Movember and I was so happy! They even had a few spares, so I had it on when Kalen returned. He also partook in the moustache fun and hurried off to get the five of us shots of Jager. Awesome. After failing to take the shot without my moustache falling off, Kalen caved to our requests - he straightened his and balanced one of the bar chairs on his chin.

After much applause, we slipped out of the place and hit up The Social for a rap party of his and ran into Noah Wiley. I didn't talk to him, coz I don't really know much about him... He was very friendly with everyone though, which is always nice to see. :)

The funniest thing had to be when Kalen said his lips were so chapped from all the fire eating. He is a professional fire eater, but it's just so uncanny to hear - I couldn't stop laughing!

By the way, Jay's show on Thursday night at the Dakota Tavern was totally awesome. He did an AWESOME cover of The Band's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. If you're into folk, blues, or country tunes, definitely check him out the next time he's in town!

Joking around at Tim's

Lisa and I hopped into Tim Horton's to chat about the plans around my Jay Sparrow interview at Gibson tomorrow.. When a man in his mid-50s elbowed me while trying to take his wallet out of his coat pocket.

He mumbled a quick apology.

Hmm...

I jabbed my elbow playfully into him a couple times and giggled. he smiled big and said, "It's not every day a pretty girl wants to get so close to me. I'm married with three boys!" Then he and Lisa started talking about kids and stuff and I just stood their smiling in the line. I like funny little convos like that. :)
Some ladies at work said I looked really pretty and said they liked an outfit I was wearing a little while ago...I can't believe they remembered... I'm just starting to realize that I leave an impression on people. I never really paid attention to that.

The other day when I was at Shoppers regenerating the make-up I lost in the purse snatching incident, Leslie, the make-up artist at the counter was amazed at how young I looked with no make-up on. She guessed I was in my early 20s and curled her lip, Elvis style, when I told her I'm 28. (By the way, the cover up I bought, CoverFX, works wonders!).

Anyway, I had told Leslie what happened with the purse and she was shocked at how positive my aura was. I was surprised she even said that, a lot of people don't speak openly about their spiritual beliefs. Is it weird that I'm proud about how people are able to open up to me? I just really appreciate their willingness to confide in me. Anyway, Leslie loaded me up with make-up samples. I won't have to buy primer for two years, lol.

Life is good.

Salem... Still has an impression on me.

I didn't get into too much of the details of Salem... And I'd rather not get into exactly what happened, but what happened in Salem really impacted my outlook on life; it made me realize how I hold my heart in this giant cage under lock and key; how I need to embrace feelings and the hurt that can come with it.

When I returned to Toronto, I came back a different person; a more positive person; a person whose goal was to take out the trash and ditch those goombas while making an effort to try to live an enlightened life.
***

I have a feeling he saw me before I saw him. And when I saw him... I just couldn't stop smiling. Reconnecting with the past is not always good, but with Dino, it was different. We essentially grew up together without really knowing each other and were always in each other's backgrounds in Elementary and High School.

Recently, we reconnected on Facebook and Dino radiated good vibes. I wanted to get to know him despite the barriers. He's in Montreal and I'm in Toronto... Perhaps a lame excuse, but one nonetheless. Still, when he said he was coming to Toronto, I was really looking forward to seeing him and had absolutely no idea what to expect.

It was... amazing. He made me smile all night... and all morning. So sexy, so delicious, so open, and honest, he drives right into the thick of things (respectfully of course). I'll never forget our first kiss. Or our last one. I keep playing them in my head... I still get butterflies every time..

So the Spirit of Salem is still in me. Despite having lost my purse two nights ago, my phone, cards, cash, keys and my favourite Chanel lipstick... I am elated. Some of th egood vibes are from Dino - some of the vibes are from my good friends who take care of me... Everyone's been telling me how awesome I look (even the cosmetic girls at Shoppers!), how I'm glowing, how they're surprised I'm so happy despite having been put in such an inconvenient situation ... I'm happy because I'm finally embracing my true self. :)

And I'm happy to finally miss someone.

My boss digs Iron Maiden

He is officially the coolest boss ever.

He also digs my VJing for UnchartedSounds.com and says I should put a portfolio together... I guess I should. :)

Rawkin' to some Daft Punk while I do the dishes and tackle laundry.

Being Called Beautiful Is Amazing

This morning I arrived at work and sat at my desk. Put on some lipstick and started clacking away at my computer keys.

One of the consultant's came in, said good morning and gave me a big smile. So of coruse I smile back. he's an adorable older Asian man. He's always smiling, but rarely speaks. Perhaps that's what makes him so darn adorable.

Except today, he actually said something to me.

"You're so beautiful."

Gosh. Didn't that make me feel fabulous! Like a Goddess :)
