Last night was hilarious. Was out at Hemmingway's with a gal pal and got majorly macked on by an Aussie CEO who works for a Swiss pharma co.

Now, I didn't find out he was a big shot until my gal pal and I were getting ready to leave - that's when he stuck out his card. We were joking around like college kids, being boisterous - our words littered with innuendo. A rad night.

He offered to buy us drinks, and then insisted he buy us a round after we politely declined. My gal pal and I stood firm. We had to work in the morning! And we simply enjoyed his company. No need. I told a girlfriend about it this morning and she seemed shocked that I didn't take him up on his offer. Why? 'Because he's paying!" I'd like to think a dude should be cool with girls not pawing at him for drinks. I can buy my own! Plus, it was getting late. I did have to get to work this morning!

CEOs can actually be pretty down to earth. Especially with four pints in 'em. Haha!

Cool tune I can't get out of my head...

The boys of 2012

UPDATE!: Ok so we are well enough past the halfway mark of 2012 and I seriously need to update this post.

The remainder guys (and girl?) of 2012 are as follows:

Frank - We met like the beginning of a weird movie or something, on a nude beach of all places (I was totally in clothes, people - they DID NOT come off!) My friends all say, "Only that could happen to you." My girlfriends and I all giggled about it. I never thought of pursuing him seriously, although my gal pal (who I was with when I met him) kept pushing me on him for some reason. Probably because he wasn't the typical type of guy I tend to meet in Toronto. Fifteen years my senior, Frank was very polite and soft spoken. Initially it was exciting and fun, but that quickly fizzled out. Our conversations were limited because we didn't have much in common. This was one of those cases where the guy was a decent person - just not the one for me.

Ruby - Um, I met her on Toronto Island too when her friend asked me to be part of a beach  photo shoot. I was being friendly and genuine of course, so when she asked if I wanted to go out for dinner one time, I said I was down coz she seemed cool. But then I realized she wanted to take me out and told me that I'm beautiful. Oops, I'm clearly clueless that she obviously wanted to take me out on a date. (How do I break up with a girl?)

I'm staying far from that island man. It's a weird, weird place.

Marine Man - Just around my birthday, tired of friends pushing me towards other people and beginning to get irritated with the summer dating scene, I decided to get back to online dating. I went back with a whole new perspective and I can't be thankful enough that I did.

I received an email from the matching system that a cutie noticed me and was blown away when I saw his profile. In fact, I was so blinded by his cuteness, that we emailed back and forth a few times before I realised he was from Buffalo. GAH! I was so upset! Finally, I find a guy I can't wait to hang with and he's so far away. Poop.

But I couldn't shake him from my head. We kept in touch. Emails. Facebook. Skype. I thought about him a lot when I was at the cottage the week before the long weekend. That was when it hit me that I missed the Marine Man. I was talking to my brother about him like I had hung out with him for months. Sounds weird, but it made sense to me. And that meant that I wanted to put more effort in. I decided I was going to take a chance and go down to meet him. Fingers crossed he wanted to meet me too. And he did!

For once, the stars were aligned. All my pals had my back. I was clear-headed. I was getting what I asked for. It still shocks me when I clear my head and think about it.

Now I better understand why I had to put up with everything I had in the past. All the hardships gave me the courage to be who I truly am without looking back. To figure out what I want and to appreciate what I have. And Karma is true.

Marine Man is the man who beat out all the boys. I am so very lucky to be able to call him mine.

So we're pretty well done the first quarter of 2012, so I thought to provide a debrief of the dudes I've dated so far this year.

Pasquale - Loud. Opinionated. Spiritual. Stubborn. Italian. (Go figure!) He was very interesting - I had met him at a GNC near my work - and we had fun flirting and joking around, but had a lot of problems. A crazy ex he wouldn't stop complaining about. A 9 year-old he said wasn't his first priority. Of course this stuff slowly came out after hanging out for two and a half weeks. So I dropped him like a sack of potatos.

Andrew - Shy. Playful. Insinuating. Persuasive. A paramedic. I should have felt safe with him, but on the contrary. His muffler fell off his car when he was driving me home after having a martini. So he ditched me at a subway station and didn't offer cab fare, even though he said he would an hour prior if anything of the sort would happen. He had also asked me to help make his bed. I refused. Douchebaggery.

Ryan - Unassuming. Well spoken. Nerd. Honest. An artist of the worst kind. Tortured, but not in the sexy creative way. We had a couple of really awesome dates. He was not the typical guy I would go for look-wise. But he was considerate and didn't push to get me into bed, which was a huge difference from Pasquale. Although, perhaps it was because Ryan couldn't perform when we did eventually get to that point... After his embarassment he said he couldn't see me anymore. It didn't pain me, but it was sure as hell confusing considering how he had invited me to his art show in Pennsylvania in May... And to meet his parents... And to travel to Europe with him... Meh. No skin off my hide. :)

Dallas - Cool name. Ok dude. Nothing in common. Next.

Domenic - Lived with his parents. At 33? Next.

Mike - Never initiated plans to hang out. Next.

Ivan - Never called. Next.

Brandon - Spiritual. Coy. Rebel-rouser. Seems like a big drinker despite claiming not to be. Had a fun hang out a week and a half ago, chatted on the phone a few times before, but only once since hanging out. Not sure if it's going to go anywhere, might be worth another hang out.

Kevin - Ah, Kevin. Looks are deceiving. He's a baker! Free olive bread! Spiritual dude, very open, but I can't shake this feeling that he's got his share of dark secrets. Don't we all? Had a very fun hang-out. No sexual chemistry for him on my part. Next!

And we'll see what happens next quarter!

Junk of the Heart Makes Me Happy

I fell in love with this tune three weeks ago and still can't shake it.

Bookie's been ranting about The Kooks and I wasn't sure what the big fuss was about. When I was on the Air Canada flight to La Guardia back in January (the first of three flights to Costa Rica - freakin' Beach Travelers screwed me on the flight there), I found an album of theirs available for listening. Air Canada has individual TVs so you can watch movies, tv or listen to albums. I love it! American Airlines had nothing of the sort. Lame-o's!

Anyway, here is the first tune I discovered of theirs on the plane, which lead me to discover that awesome one above. :)

New Headshots!

I had fun on Sunday getting my headshots done. Here are a few. I'm not sure which I like more...

Colour?

Or a different one altogether?

I had fun :)

Longboard Living, Baby!

I had such an amazing time surfing, drinking Imperial and Bamboo, eating Casado and surfing during sunsets that I will definitely go back next year. I loved the feel of surfing so much, that I bought a Longboard at a local shop called Longboard Living. I had gone two weeks after I came back to browse. After two more weeks of browsing, I ended up back there. I didn't know they do one-hour personal lessons! Sweet! Go see Ryan and pick his brain. (He's also pretty cute!)

Today while I was practicing pushing in an empty schoolyard, I couldn't help but reminisce ..

I missed my kooks!

In Nosara, my feet swelled up like mad. That's Roberto locked out of his hut ;)

Will found a pig. This was our surf instructor. Hard to take him seriously! So cute though. All the girls had a major crush, lucky bugger he was, haha!

Clearly we had been drinking too many Imperial and Pilsen! (Local beer)

Best Casado came out of this woman's car in Tamarindo. Only cost $4 (2000c in Costa Rica)

Pipa! This guy in  Nosara said hi to me every morning when I ran to the beach with my board. I'm pretty sure he giggled at me every afternoon when I emerged beaten by the waves. Nothing more refreshing than fresh coconut water!

This bistro called Buon Appetito across from our hotel in Tamarindo had the friendliest staff and the BEST coffee.

Sexy surfer dude in Nosara. He caught every wave. Even his bails were graceful.

 The beach in Tamarindo!

Trits (pronounced Treats) is the best ever ice cream sandwich you will ever eat for 800c (roughly $1.65). I will never eat any other in my life unless it's Trits.

I love this pic. It describes Costa Rica perfectly. In the background you can see all stages of surfing/paddling. In the foreground - beach babe. Pura Vida!

So to keep the feeling going, I bought my first board yesterday. Here's a pic of me taking a break from riding this morning! :) Woke up, had a coffee, eggs, beans and left without putting make-up on.

Time for a beer! Too bad I can't find Imperial here! ;)
