Brunch date is a good alternative to the dinner date

Brunch is more casual and less intense than dinner. You shouldn't look glam - if you do, it would be overkill.

Penny Pincher was nice... but he complained about how expensive the orange juice was at the diner we met at. Throughout our meals he mentioned how it was odd that the waitresses kept asking if we wanted anything else, as though they wanted us to buy something else. I told him they were just doing their job.

He reminded me of another guy I dated back in October, actually. Their mannerisms are the same! Penny talks loud, he speaks with ownership and entitlement of a subject. The only questions he asked of me was what I thought of eHarmony (our instrument of association) and what my favourite band is at the moment. Otherwise it was him yammering on about Hemmingway, his work colleagues, his bad dates ... Penny seems nice, but there's nothing about him that intrigues me... yet.

He would make a good drinking buddy, I think. Penny told me he thinks people who meet via the net put too much stock into a first date. We both agreed that friendship first is important. So perhaps he wasn't intrigued by me either. Or perhaps he is actually mature. Only time will tell.

Tiffany In Fashion

Last night I hit up Velvet Underground to catch my buddy Sean keep the beat in his band Tiffany In Fashion.

Sean a super cutie. Quiet and very bright, he's 8 years my junior, very insightful, super witty and absolutely adorable. I keep telling myself... If only I was 9 years younger... Or even 7 years, lol. But he is below the Cougar barrier age for me, which is 21. So a sweet friend he is.

He amazes me every time I watch him. I find it odd how the crowd holds back when they watch a band. I mean, drummers usually get the girls, and surprisingly none of them approached him, or the lead singer, who's a super cutie in his own right. People make me laugh.

I also make myself laugh. While the band was setting up, I ordered a shot of Jager and a chaser of Vodka on the rocks with lemon. I am by no means a drink snob, but I do not appreciate mixers in my vodka unless they are super snazz and not just sugar based juices.

So my hand wasn't steady for some reason and as I was lifting the shotglass to my mouth, I could feel the Jager elixer spill over my fingers. So of course I flung it down my throat, but flung liquor all over my chin in the process. As I snuck a napkin and wiped my face clean, I make a silly comment about how messy I was to the guy standing next to me drinking a 50. (Yeah, I know - who drinks that anymore?!)

His name was Daniel and he was in a band, but had the night off and was chekcing out Nate's set (the lead singer cutie of Tiffany In Fashion.

Daniel was a chatty Cathy. The guy talked about his gigs and how he's only been between Detroit and Mt. Ste. Anne in Quebec. I gave him my business card. He smiled a lot. Had pretty bright blue eyes, but seemed aged. Probably because of the rocker lifestyle.

Oh yeah and on Thursday this week I was a foot away from Gene Simmons. Surprisingly he looks better on TV than he does in person. I have no idea why women drool over this man, or his music for that matter.

Sidebar aside, I am chilling in tonight with some Sibling Rivalry red wine. I totally dig it. I bet Sommelier would smugly decry my taste, but who gives a fuck? I like what I like.

Speaking of Sommelier, he hasn't called since Monday.

I have a brunch date tomorrow with  the Model. I've never had a brunch date. Sunday brunch suggests commital, and also a tame Saturday night partier to a woman. I have no idea how it's going to go, though I was debating on showing up sans make-up. That way he'll get to actually see what I look like fresh-faced, which is actually very pretty. (According to all my friends - fun and true - who have seen me without eyeliner.)

I was a sailor...

Raspberry and pepper chicken... and a sexy surprises

MMm.... I was creative Saturday night and cooked up a storm. Carmelized onions, black pepper, raspberry jam ... throw in some green beans and voila! Noms!

I had just finished an Abs Diet workout (the start of my 4th week!) and was about to nuke the leftover noms when my new love interest... let's call him Sommelier ... called and asked if he could drop by for a visit on his way home. And no, it wasn't an attempt at a booty call because he had already told me he wanted to take things slow. Still he could be lying. Either way, I want to trust him. I also wanted to see him. So I told him sure, come over!

He showed up with dessert. Espresso brownies! Mmm... He asked me about my day. I asked him about his. We chilled out and listened to some tunes. It was so relaxing and comfortable ... He is so lovely. :)

I didn't expect to see him today, after our first date yesterday, which was... wow. Is it weird to wonder what life would be like without certain people? Life without Dee, Jenn, Lisa, Christina, Jason and Daniel... And Sommelier.

He's busy and so am I... I was surprised when he called this evening. Guys typically follow the three day rule. I like how he makes his own rules, while being respectful. I feel like I'm in a fairy tale.

It was blistering cold today, but my walk to work was amazing. :)

Smiles all around...

At 54 seconds, the movie world changed forever.

My mom called me as soon as they broke to commercial. My dad was in the background asking who the hell Trent Reznor was. My mom said "The guy in the giant poster Christine has!!"

Never thought a punk who made Pretty Hate Machine, who moved up to start his own Production Company and collaborate with amazing talent like Bowie and Johnny Cash; who wrote computer game scores and made tunes for movie soundtracks ... would win a Golden Globe - on his first nomination for the best score of the decade.

I was elated to hear that everyone was quiet to listen to Reznor and Ross speak. "He is so SEXY!" My mom squealed. Finally, she understood the appeal.

Even though I hated The Social Network, I understand it's significance to the movie world and Generation Y. And I am so happy Reznor can put a GG next to his Grammy. Maybe he'll even have an Oscar!

LOVE this song.

Slimmin' Down Nicely

I've completed week two of David Zinczenko's Abs Diet. My biceps are bigger and my waist is trimmer. Workouts are getting easier... So I guess it makes sense that they're supposed to get tougher at week three.

My Jeans are fitting me better. There's this one pair I need to get back into. They were my summer pair and got a bit snug after all the holiday indulgences. So I'm happy that I'm not far off from hitting my goal already. Who knows, maybe they'll be too big for me by the Spring!

My Coffee Is Cold

So I saw the snow this morning and thought to run out in the lovely falling snow to pick up a lighter and get some coffee.

No, I'm not a smoker. And the lady behind the counter was confused when I bought a lighter without it's cancerous partner. I use 'em to light my candles.

My nice relaxing jaunt through the snow ended up being a very cold and windy trial of strength.

I love snow. And I love coffee. But I'm not a fan of snow flakes slamming into my face like a spray of bullets. I'm also not a fan of wind chills. But I was in dire need of coffee. And I was out of cream at home. So I was determined.

Alas, now my coffee is cold. Plus, my stomach is doing a strange flip-floppy thing. Perhaps coffee is not the best thing right now. On the table next to me in the den is a half full bottle of red wine and a full bottle of Bailey's. I'm debating a swig of Bailey's to warm me up. But it's probably not good for my wary tummy.

There's random shit all over the place right now. My coat is in the middle of the kitchen floor. My weights are scattered in front of my TV. I have beads all over my coffee table. My bedroom looks like my closet exploded and my bathroom looks like the stock room for Sephora.

They say people can tell a lot about a person by snooping around their home turf. I can only guess what they would think of me!

Nothing beats a nice glass of Ripasso Val-pol

After a long day, and achy from an intense workout the night before, a glass of Ripasso Valpolicella is so divine.

By no means am I a wine conoisseur, but I do know what I like. And I really enjoy this stuff.

A lady at work lent me a Tiffany bracelet - the signature beaded one. On a daily basis I'm uploading pictures of me and my friends wearing it. It's funny how some online pals of mine have been following this event - kinda like a mini cult following. What a lucky $225 silver bracelet! lol.

My novella is coming along quite nicely. Have had a lot of inspiration and plan on getting a lot done this weekend. Finished the chapter on Steve and Dino. Now it's moving on to ... I'm not sure yet. I'll figure it out. ;)

On the way home tonight, it was snowing so softly... it was sooo pretty and super qiet. My favourite kind of winter nights. :) How suiting for a day like today when the psychic awareness knob is on High.

I saw about 30 feet ahead there was someone in a motorized wheelchair who was in the middle of the road. She was against a green light, so a bunch of cars were honking. As I moved closer I could see it was that woman I see often motoring around. Her wheels were spinning, but she wasn't going anywhere. I counted as two guys passed, then a girl and a guy, then a guy by himself walked by. No one even turned their head in her direction. I was so terribly disappointed in humanity.

Then as I was walking toward the lady a guy parked in his car, leaned over his girlfriend in the passanger seat to yell at me, "Hey, can you move her out of the way?" Are you serious?

Pathetic.

So I walked over and tried to push the lady's chair, but it wouldn't budge. Finally a guy came over and helped. The lady told me she was on her way to a Bible party, just four friends who were having a potluck. I think she had Cerebral Palsey, but didn't ask.

I made sure she made it across the street ok and walked her a block down the street before I made my way home.

And now I'm in my comfies, drinking Val-Pol. Thinkin' about the weekend. No dates lined up. First tme since late November... That Jimmy guy never called to ask me out.. so there's no way that's going to happen. I'm going out Friday...and am meeting up with a super hottie... hope he's cool. :)

Abs Diet workout kicked my ass

Took me 30 minutes to get through the routine - which is how long it should take, so I'm happy I was able to complete it all in the time alotted! Still, it was TOUGH! I'm glad tomorrow is a cardio day. And Wednesday I'm off to Dee's for our weekly workout sessions.

We decided to meet up every Wednesday to work out together and alternate from her place to mine. This week I'm bringing my Carmen Electra DVD, which is a kick ass calisthetics workout. Dee and I will meet up right after workie, we're only a block apart from each other! I'm looking forward to having a cool workout buddy. Plus, we're going to Rebel House for din din on Friday. I'm so looking forward to the curry... And Dee is looking forward to the waiter, Jeremy... I recall her telling me he was a sexy lollipop. I love the stuff she comes up with!

Just made some barley soup. I have never had so much food in my fridge and it's not xmas leftovers either. All that stuff was gone by the 27th!

I was cookin' up stuff for a chicken pot pie this evening when the smoke alarm went off.

The landlord hasn't put a fan above the stove like all other homes have. It drives me nuts ... and the steam from all the pots and pans cooking (yes, I had all four elements going) always has the smoke alarm setting off.

I cooked up some yams, carmelized onions, had chicken in a pan and pasta in another pot. I always make such a mess when I cook! I lined the casserole dish with filo pastery and put the mix in... nom nom nom....

I've only had one glass of Chardonnay and am already feeling a bit fuzzy.

James aka The Fulgent Éclat contacted me via Twitter asking if I wanted to go out for drinks. I have never been picked up via Twitter before. He seems like quite the smartie and is pretty cute.. we'll see where it goes ;)

Today was awesome. Met up with my brother and his boyfriend, did some groceries, and got a workout carrying litter and cat food home. I remembered that I lost an earring on New Years Eve... I recall telling Derek at 3am while we waited for the streecar that never came.

I probably should be upset that I lost an earring. It was a cute pair - Swarovski, purple and black drops. I still have the orphaned one... so today I pulled out all my jewelry stuff so I can try to model a new pair after the one I had left. I should probably be upset about losing something like that... but ever since my purse was stolen/lost, I figure things are lost to either learn something, or because I don't need it/them anymore. I actually had a laugh because who knows how long I had been walking around with one earring on!

NYE was great - went to a house party with Derek, a super cool dude I've been buds with for years. Still, we didn't hang out all that often. Let's hope 2011 changes that. His friends are super awesome fun, Nothing super fantastic happened - no one was proposed to, no one danced naked, no one made a fool of themselves... but that's what made it such a great night - Everyone was in high spirits, we were chomping yummy treats (Chèvre and crackers.... MMMmmMMmmMM) - all in all, a super fabulous night of new friends, yummy treats, vino and good tunage. I certainly hope it's a refelction of 2011!!
