Glee finally got me

Ok, so I boycotted Glee for a while because that whiney Kurt kid drove me nuts. I know you kids like him, but I can't stand someone who is so whiney. When he was threatened to die by asexually confused jock, poor Kurt was banished to an amazing private school full of gorgeous gay men. And the kid still whined. Jesus.

Unfortunately, Kurt is back at his troubled public school. The only thing that saved the episode for me was the final trance/dance number. It was this tube by Duck Sauce.

Fuck, I love this song.

Went to the gym again tonight and the orgasm bicep-curl gal was nowhere in sight.
My trainer said I should never ever eat cereal. That even the whole grain kind is bad.
He also said milk is full of sugar and is pointless to have.
Wtf am I supposed to eat? Cardboard?

Only Girl In The World

Song of the Day is Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World)

I have to admit, I'm nto a fan of Rihanna as a person. I don't particularly think she has a lot to offer, or that she wants to be known for something other than a pop singer. Which is fine. I guess I always feel compelled peopel shoudl give as much as they can and she has huge potential.

I love this video though. I dig Rihanna's style.

Song of the day is by a Christian band for all yous celebrating Easter.

This song was on Montreal radio in 1996-1997 and I was instantly addicted to pop-pyness. It was a few years later that I realized it was an Australian Christian pop band. Then I immediately chucked the CD.

I still kept my Collective Soul albums though. As much as I hate Christian bands, I have to admit, Collective Soul seems to have a more spiritual aspect that transcends all religious views (or none at all.)

And then I realized that V.A.S.T, a Texan rock/industrial/experimental band appears to have Catholic or Christian undertones in their lyrics. (Ok, some of it is quite blatant.) But Visual Audio Sensory Theatre has some amazing tracks, the composition of their songs are too complex to simply brush off because of lyrics. Oftentimes lyrics don't make a song, but the music does. And VAST is strong evidence of that.

Btw, wtf is the difference between Catholics and Christians?

Midnight Bayou

It's a creepy movie, but it's good. Kinda like Skeleton Key where people are posessed by spirits.

There seems to be a trend with Mississippi-themed movies. Spirits, voodoo ... crazy creepy and super cool.

Ini Kamoze's Hotstepper and Missed The Boat by Modest Mouse

Song of the day... Yesterday and today!

Ini Kamoze's Hotstepper was on Billboard's top 10 in 1994. Amazing to think it was over 15 years ago. I remember people blaring this from their cars. Crazy to think they were gangsta then!

Modest Mouse, always been a fan, never hardcore though. Haven't seen them in concert yet. Float On is one everyone has heard, and I heard my boss listening to Missed The Boat in his office on Wednesday and it's been stuck in my head since. :)

Song of the Day - Elbow's Open Arms (For Red Nose Day in the UK)

Red Nose Day is a day like no other when the whole country gets together to do something funny for money and change countless lives in the process.

It all culminates in a night of cracking TV on the BBC with some of the biggest names in comedy and entertainment. And the best bit? All the fun and mayhem helps to raise cash and transform lives across the UK and Africa.

Red Nose Day 2011 has been an incredible success – and it’s still not too late to be a part of it!

Best quote by Steven Tyler on Idol tonight

After James D's performance...
"Get out of my closet man... You wouldn't know it's so expensive to look so cheap."

Why DOES it cost so much to look so cheap? I once saw a sweater at Holts with massive raggedy holes in it... and this rag cost $2,000.

Amazing.

Song of the day(s)... Sometime Around Deadmau5

Airborne Toxic Event has a new album out called All At Once, but I'm still a fan of this older tune, Sometime Around Midnight.

Rope is a sweet Foo Fighters tune. I was amazed watchign them on Letterman. These guys are so entertaining live and they sound just like the record. My buddy Donny has a man crush on Dave Grohl. (Sorry for outing you bud, but it's a very understandable man crush.)

I have a crush on Deadmau5 tunes, but not on the mouse man himself. His Zelda heart tattoos are cool, but that's the cutest thing about him. Unfortunately

Dreidel was a Dud

So for the past couple weeks I've been chatting up with guy my friend Vero calls Dreidel. She's not that creative. He's Jewish. Oh didn't Passover start at sundown tonight? Mazeltov!

Dreidel jokes around too much. I'm all for a funny guy, but he would crack about everything; so much so, that we didn't really talk about ourselves. We just poked fun at people around us, at each other and at celebrities. It was fun, but the point of a date is to figure out if there's compatibility and if there is mutual agreement on what is desired. (A Romantic relationship, fun buddy, or friendship.)

All I knew at the end of the first date was that he didn't have a spine, which he admitted and I found a complete turn-off.

He was complaining how girls say they want nice guys, but dump him. I retorted that girls generally want a guy with a good head on his shoulders, but they tend not to have a stiff spine. They warble and run to momma, they are needy, they only love women who abuse them verbally. Dreidel flatly responded that he had no spine, then sipped his hot chocolate loaded with marshmallows.

I... wasn't sure if this guy was worth another shot, but felt to give him the benefit of the doubt. We went to Copacobana on Friday night. The food was amazing. The waiters were handsome and flirty. The hostess was attentive. Everyone was paying more attention to me than Dreidel was. He complained when I reached for the bill. 'It's more expensive than you think, you know.'

It was probably stupid of me to pay for it out of spite, but I did.

We went out for coffee and dessert after that. More yammering on about nonsense. He wouldn't stop staring at a plastic-faced woman. He wasn't acting like he was 32. He was acting like a nervous high school kid. It was frustrating.

At the end of the night, I didn't expect him to make a move considering how juvenile he was behaving and how I distanced myself. I was right. Instead he went into this tyrade of excuses why he wasn't sure whether to kiss a girl or not at the end of the night. Apparently dating was new to him since he had just gotten out of  a 5-year relationship in October.

Why the fuck is he on eHarmony then?

I stuck out my hand and said 'thank you.'

He clumsily threw himself forward and gave me a hug.

I waved him off as I walked into my place at 2am.

And I fell face-first into my pillows.

Note: Falling face-first into pillows hurts if you're wearing glasses. It also is not an ideal method of suicide.

Not an Addict - K's Choice

I swear, there is no hidden reason behind me posting this song. I really just love it.

It reminds me of the 90s; Specifically of my teen life in Montreal. Of Kurt Cobain offing himself; Of Green Day and Radiohead; Of TGIF; Of Drama Class; Of the Key Club; Of summers in Plattsburgh, NY; Of that weirdo movie IT; Of track pants with buttons down the sides; Of daydreaming...

Hot & Dangerous

I'm feeling Hot and Dangerous today! Ok, not really dangerous, but definitely hot.

There's nothing better than having a hot guy tell me that I'm gorgeous; that I have an amazing stomach and should show it off more; that my tattoos are awesome and that I am awesome. I did reciprocate what I thought to be awesome about himself, but it's not like we're a mutual admiration society. We've been friends for years (since Grade 7) and have both seen each other through the end of terrible relationships. Though we have never been in a relationship together - and I won't begin to consider it. Not because he isn't relationship material, but we are on opposite ends of the relationship ruler.

He's just ended a super long relationsip and is not ready to be in one. I have been without a serious relationship for 3 years (though had two or three bursts of 3-month long attempts which failed), and am ready for one, but am not activley looking. (Ok, not anymore.)

Still, it's nice to share a few glasses of wine and snuggle with a great (and handsome) friend. Perhaps it was kinda dangerous. He seemed way too fond of my belly. But that makes a gal feel GREAT!

Yesterday's Song of the Day

Saturday was a super busy day, loads of running around, laundry, and tidying up coz my buddy Sheldon was on his way in town.

This tune is one I always have to sing along to. It's a perfect way to wind down after running around like crazy.

Kick a$$ and start a circle pit. Why not? It's Friday!

I was doing a cardio workout while listening to Rancid's Indestructible album. And I gotta say, it was th emost wonderful and sweatiest workout I've had in a long while.

There's nothing like Pogoing and Skanking to get your cardio up. Man, I miss the Big Bop all of a sudden...

Where the hell to the Black Sheeps go to enjoy music now? Is the Hideout the new Big Bop?

Song of the Day - Dry the Rain by The Beta Band!

Funny how a 90s cult band can disappear on a gal. Of course, nothing suits a cult band more than a cult film (High Fidelity).

Song of the day! All you Big Girls, Swing it!

Ever since I played Just Dance 2 for the first time last Friday, I've had this song stuck in my head.

I think this song sends a good message to all those 'big girls' the media overlooks in advertising.
